Privacy Policy

PrayerThread is a platform that helps churches pray together. This policy covers the PrayerThread website and app. Your church decides who may join its space, who leads it, and what is prayed there — but the information described below is handled as set out here regardless of which church you belong to.

We collect only what the platform needs in order to work.

• Your account. Your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google — nothing else from your Google account. If you sign in with an email link, we receive only your email address.
• Your place in the church. The church and campus you belong to, and your role (member, coordinator, or admin).
• What you pray. Prayers you add to a prayer log, prayer requests you post, replies you write, testimonies you share when a request is answered, and the prayers you mark as having prayed for.
• Your private journal. Journal entries you write are stored so that only you can read them.
• Your participation. The prayer slots you claim and the sessions you take part in.
• Reports you make. If you report a prayer or request as inappropriate, we store the report so your church leaders can review it.
• Whether you reached the join page. When you sign in for the first time, we record that you opened the page for choosing a church, and the page for joining one. We keep only the fact that you reached each page and when — no other browsing, and nothing about any other part of the app. We do this so we can tell whether people are getting stuck before they manage to join. Nobody at your church can see it.
• Basic technical records. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and browser type, to keep the service running and secure.

• We do not sell your information, and we never will.
• We do not show advertising, and we do not share your information with advertisers.
• We do not use third-party tracking or analytics tools to follow you around the web.
• We do not read your private journal entries or use your prayers to train anything.

This is the part most people want to know, so it is spelled out plainly. Visibility is set by you when you write, and enforced by the platform:

• Prayers in a session log are visible to members of your church who can see that session, and are shown with your name, your campus, and the time you prayed. You can mark an individual prayer as private, in which case it is not shown to other members.
• Prayer requests carry the visibility you choose: everyone in your church, your campus only, or your church leaders only.
• Journal entries are visible only to you. They are never shown to other members, to church leaders, or to campus coordinators.
• Church leaders and admins can see membership information for their own church, and content that has been reported to them for review. They cannot see your journal, and they cannot see anything belonging to another church.

We share your information only with the services that make PrayerThread run, and only so that they can run it:

• Supabase — stores our database and handles sign-in.
• Vercel — hosts and serves the website.
• Google — only if you choose to sign in with your Google account, and only to confirm who you are.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect someone's safety.

Prayers are meant to last. A central purpose of PrayerThreadis to build a permanent record of how a church has prayed over time, so prayers added to a session log become part of your church's archive and remain there.

If you close your account, your profile and membership are removed and you no longer appear as a member of your church. Prayers you contributed to a shared log may remain in the archive as part of the thread others prayed alongside. If you want a specific prayer removed, contact us and we will work with your church leaders to take it down.

• You can view and update your name and campus from your profile at any time.
• You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
• You can ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
• You can ask us to close your account and delete your personal information.

PrayerThreadis built for church congregations and is not directed to children under 13. If your church involves younger members in prayer, they should take part under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or church leader using that adult's account. If we learn that we have collected information directly from a child under 13, we will delete it.

Access to prayers and requests is enforced at the database level, not just in the app, so one church can never read another church's content. Connections to PrayerThreadare encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the trust involved in holding people's prayers seriously.

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change meaningfully affects how your information is handled, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
