v0.26.0
You are here
The invitation you send now says what the session is for, and that an online one can be prayed from anywhere.
ImprovedThe invitation used to open with a count of open slots and never said what the session was about. It now opens with the theme you set, asks people to pick a time that suits them, and closes by asking them to pass it on to anyone else who might want to pray.
ImprovedIf your session is Online, the invitation now says people can pray from wherever they are, with nowhere to be and nothing to travel to. A Hybrid session offers both. An In Person session says nothing about place, since where to go is already in your session notes.
v0.25.0
The top of Home greets you by the time of day, and tells you one thing worth knowing right now.
Improved"Welcome" is now "Good morning", "Good afternoon" or "Good evening", read from your church's own clock. Underneath it sits why the church gathers — seeking God's wisdom and guidance together, as we move His kingdom forward — and an open invitation to ask for prayer yourself, so nobody has to work out whether this is the place to say what they are carrying.
NewOne line at the top of Home now changes with what is actually happening. If you have signed up for a prayer time, it tells you when — and says so plainly while it is running. If you have not, and the next session still has times nobody has taken, it says how many are still waiting for someone. If every time is filled, it tells you what the church will be praying about.
NewWhen nothing is scheduled, Home shows a verse for the day. It is the same verse for everyone in the church, and it changes once each morning.
v0.24.0
More ways to tell someone you prayed, and a Home page that fits on a phone again.
NewThere are now eight ways to respond to a prayer without writing one: 🙏 praying for this, 🙌 praise God, ❤️ love, 🫶 thank you, 🕊️ peace over this, 🫂 standing with you, ✝️ amen, and 🕯️ lighting a candle. The three we had covered joy and love well, but not the two things people most want to say when the news is hard — that they are asking for peace over it, and that the person is not carrying it alone. Thank you is there for the other direction, so someone whose request was prayed for can say so without having to write a reply.
ImprovedHome is a shorter page. Your prayer requests now starts closed, with the number of requests beside it and a Show button, because it is your own writing and you already know what it says. The prayer feed never hides — it shows three prayers with a button to open the rest, since reading what the church has prayed is what most people come to Home for.
ImprovedYour prayer requests only lists a request once somebody has actually responded to it, and only for 30 days after you shared it. A card that sat there reporting nothing was telling you the one thing this section exists to avoid. Nothing is lost — every request you have ever shared is still on the Prayer Requests page and on its own page.
FixedThe Show and Hide buttons on a prayer now only appear when there is more of it to read. On a short prayer, pressing Read did nothing at all, because there was nothing hidden — which looked like a broken button.
ImprovedWriting a prayer during a scheduled session no longer asks which campus you are from. It uses the campus you joined with, the same way signing up for a time slot already did.
ImprovedEdit is now a small pencil, sitting with the other icons on a prayer rather than as a lone labelled button wedged between them.
v0.23.0
You can now fix your own words — a prayer request, or a prayer you wrote during a session.
NewIf you spot something in a prayer request you shared — a typo, a detail that has changed, a name you would rather not have used — you can now fix it instead of deleting it and starting again. Open your request and choose Edit. You can change the words, who can see it, which campuses it goes to, whether your name is shown, and whether you are asking others to pray with you now. The request carries a small "edited" note afterwards, so anyone who already prayed for it knows the wording changed. Once you mark a request answered it is settled, and can no longer be edited.
NewYou can also fix your own prayer in a scheduled prayer session, for as long as that session is still running. After it ends the thread is kept exactly as it was prayed, so looking back on it later shows what really happened. Leaders can still hide or remove anything that needs it, but nobody can rewrite what someone else wrote.
FixedChoosing a smaller group for a prayer request now really does keep it inside that group. Before, narrowing the group took the request off the prayer wall, but anyone with a direct link could still open it.
v0.22.0
We now check whether people are getting stuck before they manage to join.
NewSome people have signed in and never finished joining a church, and until now we had no way of telling where they got stuck. PrayerThread now records whether you opened the page for choosing a church and the page for joining one — just that you reached each page and when. Nothing else about your browsing is recorded, and nobody at your church can see it. The privacy policy has been updated to explain this.
v0.21.0
Joining now asks one question at a time instead of one long page.
ImprovedThe join page used to put your campus and your group on the same page, one list under the other — on a phone that meant a lot of scrolling, and you couldn’t see the second question at all until you got there. It now asks one question per screen, shows “Step 1 of 2”, and has a Back button if you want to change your answer.
ImprovedIf your church only asks one question, there are no steps at all — you just see your details and the Join button.
ImprovedChurch admins now set the default campus with a simple checkbox in Admin → Manage Campuses, instead of a star.
v0.20.0
Joining a church is simpler — your campus is already filled in for you.
ImprovedThe join page used to leave “Join & Start Praying” greyed out until you tapped a campus, without saying so — easy to miss, and easy to give up on. Your campus now comes already selected, so you can join straight away. If it isn’t the right one, tap the campus you attend and it changes.
ImprovedIf your church has only one campus, the join page simply tells you which one rather than asking you to pick from a list of one.
ImprovedThe campus and group lists are now clearly labelled, and whichever one is selected shows a tick — not just a change of colour.
NewChurch admins can choose which campus new members start on, under Admin → Manage Campuses. Pick the campus most of your members attend.
v0.19.1
No more email addresses showing where a name belongs, and no more “Unknown” members.
FixedSome older prayer slots and prayers showed the person’s email address instead of their name. Those now show a readable name (like “John Smith”) — email addresses are never displayed.
FixedMembers who hadn’t confirmed their name appeared as “Unknown” in the member list. They now show a name drawn from their email, marked “unconfirmed” until they choose one on Home.
FixedVery long names no longer spill out of the prayer slot cards — they wrap neatly instead.
v0.19.0
Buttons now look the same everywhere, so your eye always knows what to press.
ImprovedEvery button in the app now follows one simple language: coral means “do the thing,” a plain bordered button is a secondary choice, and anything that deletes shows in red before you press it — not only when you hover. Buttons are also bigger and easier to tap on phones.
ImprovedWhen it’s your turn to pray, “Write your prayer now” is a big coral button right under the reminder — the most obvious thing on the page.
ImprovedMoving through the app with a keyboard now shows a clear outline on every button.
v0.18.0
The live prayer room lights a candle for every prayer, and writing yours now sits right at the top.
NewA row of candles in the live prayer room — one for each person signed up. A candle lights the moment that person’s prayer is posted, whether that’s early, on time, or catching up later, and a community candle glows when friends without a slot join in. When the whole session is covered, every candle is lit. Very large sessions show a smaller candle wall so the page stays easy to scroll.
ImprovedWriting your prayer moved to the top of the prayer log — right beneath the “It’s your turn to pray!” note when it’s your turn — so you no longer scroll past every prayer to find the button. The newest prayers appear first, and long threads show ten at a time with a “Show more” button.
Improved“It’s your turn to pray!” and the other live-session signs are now green instead of red — they’re invitations, not warnings.
ImprovedFor leaders: the End Session button now sits inside the live banner instead of taking its own row.
v0.17.2
Joining a second church works again — members who already belonged to one were being turned away.
FixedIf you already belonged to a church, following “Join Another Church” took you to your own dashboard instead of letting you join. It looked as though the page had not refreshed; the join was being refused. You can now belong to more than one church, and joining switches you straight to the new one.
FixedTapping Join twice no longer leaves you looking at the church you came from.
FixedA church with no groups could not be joined at all — the Join button waited for a group to be chosen when there were none. Every church now keeps at least one, and the last one can no longer be removed by accident.
v0.17.1
If you belong to more than one church, Home no longer mixes their prayer requests together.
FixedMembers who belong to more than one church saw their own requests from one church listed under the other on Home. Each church now shows only what was shared there. Nobody ever saw anyone else’s requests — it was your own, under the wrong heading.
v0.17.0
Home is now somewhere to pray from, not just a schedule to read — and a request can be shared without your name on it.
NewYou can share a prayer request straight from Home. It used to show other people’s requests without giving you any way to add your own.
NewYour own requests now show what came back — how many people prayed, reacted or replied. Before this, sharing a request told you nothing at all unless you went looking.
NewA request can be shared anonymously. Your name is hidden from other members; your church admin can still see it, so they can reach out if you need support.
New“Waiting for prayer” shows requests nobody has prayed for yet — either because the person asked others to pray with them, or because a day has passed with no reply. One tap prays for them.
NewIf you have not signed up for a prayer slot, Home now offers the next open ones and lets you claim one on the spot.
FixedMembers who signed in by email link had their email address shown as their name on the prayer wall, in the prayer log and on the schedule. Names are now taken from your profile, and we will ask you to confirm yours if we do not have one.
FixedOnly the person who shared a request can mark it as answered. Coordinators could do it on their behalf, and the testimony that goes with it belongs to the person who lived it.
FixedMembers were shown a “Create Scheduled Prayer” button that sent them back to the schedule with no explanation. Scheduling is set up by coordinators, and the app now says so.
FixedA prayer session in progress now shows on Home, not only on the Scheduled Prayer page.
v0.16.0
Church admins can now see which reminder emails went out, and which did not.
NewA new Reminder Emails page under Admin lists every reminder we have tried to send. If a member says they never got theirs, you can look it up instead of guessing.
NewReminders that could not be delivered are flagged, along with the reason — for example a mistyped email address — so it can be put right.
v0.15.0
We can now email you 30 minutes before your prayer slot, so it does not slip past you.
NewIf you have signed up for a prayer slot, we can send you a reminder email 30 minutes beforehand — enough time to find a quiet moment and read what others have written before you.
NewReminders are on by default. You can turn them off any time from your profile, or with one click at the bottom of any reminder — no need to sign in.
v0.14.0
Churches used for testing can be kept off the list new members choose from.
NewA church can now be marked as unlisted, which keeps it off the list shown to people joining. Anyone with its direct link can still reach it, so testers are unaffected. This means new members are no longer offered a test church alongside the real one when they sign up.
v0.13.0
Campus filters and campus coverage now actually work — sign-ups are recorded against the campus you joined.
FixedWhen someone claimed a prayer slot, their campus was never recorded. That meant filtering the schedule by campus showed nothing, campus labels never appeared on claimed slots, and the “campuses represented” figure was always empty. Sign-ups are now recorded against the campus you registered with.
FixedPast sign-ups have been matched to the right campus wherever possible, so your history is filled in too.
ImprovedA handful of older sign-ups were made by people who have since left the church, so their campus can no longer be worked out. Rather than guessing, the campuses page now says plainly how many sign-ups could not be matched.
v0.12.2
The schedule no longer asks you to pick a campus before claiming a time slot.
FixedThe schedule page showed a “My campus” picker above the time slots, but whatever you chose was never saved and changed nothing. It has been removed, so there is one less thing to decide when you sign up for a slot.
v0.12.1
Close and cancel buttons can now be read aloud by screen readers.
FixedThe X buttons that close the prayer request form, the admin review box, and the campus and group editors had no name, so screen readers announced only “button”. They now say what they do.
ImprovedThose buttons are also slightly larger, making them easier to tap accurately on a phone.
v0.12.0
Churches can now set their own time zone when registering, and change it later in settings.
NewA Time zone field on the church registration form, pre-filled from your device but always yours to confirm. It shows the current time in whichever zone you pick, so you can check it against your own watch.
NewAdmins can change their church’s time zone in Church Settings. Sessions already on the calendar do not move — it only changes what a time means when you enter a new one.
FixedRegistering a new church works again. It briefly failed for churches created after the time zone was added but before there was a field to fill in.
v0.11.0
Prayer times now follow your church’s clock, wherever anyone happens to be.
ImprovedSession and slot times are shown in your church’s time zone for everyone. A 6 AM slot reads as 6 AM whether it is opened in Lakeville or on holiday somewhere else — so the whole church can talk about “the 6 AM slot” and mean the same thing.
NewIf you are somewhere in a different time zone, a note at the top of the schedule tells you which clock you are looking at and how far it is from your own.
FixedA leader editing a session from another time zone no longer moves the whole prayer day for everybody. The start time you set is your church’s time, not wherever you happen to be sitting.
v0.10.3
Prayer dates and slot times now always show in your own time zone.
FixedThe date beside a prayer on the Home page could be a day off — a prayer written late on the 27th showing as the 28th.
FixedTimes in the prayer log, the live session banner, and the schedule briefly showed in the wrong time zone before correcting themselves.
v0.10.2
Editing a prayer session no longer shows the wrong start time or wipes everyone’s sign-ups.
FixedThe Edit Session screen showed the wrong start time and always showed a 30-minute slot size, no matter what the session actually used. It now shows the session’s real start time and slot length.
FixedSaving an edit used to clear every sign-up, even when you only changed the theme or notes. Sign-ups are now kept unless you actually change the date, start time, duration, or slot size.
FixedAfter about 7pm, leaders could no longer edit that day’s session, and creating a session defaulted to tomorrow’s date. Both now follow your own local date.
FixedTimes on the Home page under "My Prayer Slots" were shown in the wrong time zone.
v0.10.1
A small tidy-up to the top bar.
ImprovedThe version number no longer sits beside the ALPHA badge at the top of the page — it was crowding the header. You can still find it, and what changed in it, at the bottom of any page.
v0.10.0
PrayerThread now has a Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, so members can see exactly who can read their prayers.
NewA Privacy Policy page explaining what we store, who can see each kind of prayer, and how to ask for your information to be removed.
NewA Terms of Service page covering how to treat the space, who owns what you write, and what to do in an emergency.
NewLinks to both pages in the footer of every page.
ImprovedAfter requesting a sign-in link, the page now reminds you to check your spam or junk folder — and to mark the email "Not spam" so future links reach your inbox.
FixedSign-in links now work when you open them on a different device. Asking for a link on your computer and tapping it on your phone used to fail every time.
ImprovedIf a sign-in link does not work, the page now says why — expired, already used, or opened in the wrong browser — instead of just "something went wrong".
v0.9.0
You can now see which version of PrayerThread you are using, and what changed in it.
NewA version number now appears beside the app name and in the footer of every page.
NewA "What's New" page listing every release, what it added, and when it shipped.
NewEach page now shows whether you are on the live site or a preview build, so a test link can never be mistaken for the real thing.
v0.8.0
Clearer language throughout — the people who pray are Prayer Partners, and the place they pray is the Prayer Room.
ImprovedRenamed "volunteers" and "prayer warriors" to Prayer Partners everywhere in the app.
ImprovedThe shared space you enter during your slot is now called the Prayer Room.
NewAn "Alpha" label on the site and dashboard, so early users know the platform is still growing.
v0.7.0
A quieter release focused on reliability — fewer confusing errors and an automated test suite behind the scenes.
ImprovedError messages are now written in plain language instead of showing raw technical detail.
FixedPrayer requests now correctly show only the ones belonging to your church.
NewAn automated test suite that checks sign-in, slot claiming, and prayer posting before every release.
v0.6.0
PrayerThread became findable — and sign-in got steadier.
NewSearch engine and social sharing support, so a shared link shows a proper preview card.
FixedFixed a problem where signing in could silently drop you back on the home page.
ImprovedCampus insights are now limited to coordinators and admins.
v0.5.0
Anytime Prayer Requests arrived — prayer no longer has to wait for a scheduled session.
NewAnytime Prayer Requests: share a need at any time, with threaded replies and reactions.
NewA moderation inbox where admins can review anything a member has reported.
ImprovedThe campus page became an insights tool with date filtering, participation trends, and invite prompts.
ImprovedEvery page was audited and fixed for small phone screens.
ImprovedThe admin members page was redesigned with search, a role guide, and a clearer table.
v0.4.0
One account, many churches — plus a public site that explains what PrayerThread is.
NewBelong to more than one church and switch between them from the header.
NewNew public pages: Who We Are, What is Prayer, and a redesigned home page.
ImprovedSession creation now shows how many Prayer Partners are still needed.
v0.3.0
The dashboard started telling you what is happening — recent prayers, coverage, and who can see what.
NewA recent prayers feed on the dashboard, with reactions and expandable entries.
NewRing-based session visibility, so a session can open to one group before the whole church.
NewMembers and admins can now change which campus a member belongs to.
FixedSlot times now follow your own timezone rather than the server’s.
v0.2.0
Churches got the tools to run a session themselves — and sessions came alive while they were happening.
NewRegister your own church, set up your profile, and manage it from an admin panel.
NewA live session experience with a countdown, live indicators, and an end-session control.
NewReactions on prayer log entries, and a shareable invite link for your church.
NewAn audit log recording admin actions such as deleting a session.
v0.1.0
The first prayer thread — schedule a session, claim a slot, and pray in turn across every campus.
NewPrayer sessions divided into time slots that Prayer Partners can claim.
NewThe shared prayer log, where each prayer continues the one before it.
NewSign in with Google or an email link, and join your church and campus.
